WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE AND AFTER YOUR LASER TREATMENT

PRE TREATMENT CARE

  • No sun exposure, tanning beds, or sunless tanning cream for at least one week before treatment. Sun exposure decreases the effectiveness of laser treatments and can increase the chance of post-treatment complications.

  • Remove all makeup, creams, or oils before treatment.

  • Shave the area where laser hair removal will be performed before the scheduled appointment.

  • Do not wax, tweeze, bleach, or use depilatory creams two weeks before treatment. Using these hair removal methods will make the laser ineffective, and you will not see the results you are looking for.

  • Be sure to inform your technician if you’re taking any antibiotics, retinol, Retin-A, Accutane, or photosensitive medication.

  • Be sure to inform your technician if you have ever had cosmetic tattoos or cosmetic pigmentation, or permanent makeup applied near the treatment area.

  • If you are prone to cold sores: take medication 4-10 days before getting treatment against cold sores.

POST TREATMENT CARE

  • Do not rub or scratch the treated area.

  • Avoid swimming, hot water/showers, soaking, or hot tubs/whirlpools until the skin heals.

  • If you are prone to breakouts or have oily skin, consider waiting 24 hours before applying any topical products.

  • The treated area cannot be exposed to the sun for one week after the treatment.

  • A broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunblock of SPF 30 or higher should be applied whenever exposed to the sun.

  • Discomfort may be relieved by cold gel packs and an over-the-counter pain reliever.

  • The hair will grow back, and in about ten days to 3 weeks, it will start to shed.

  • Do not wax or tweeze. Exfoliate 2-3 times a week.

  • The area can only be shaved.
